There are few things within the realm of being a follower of Christ that rival witnessing souls being born into the family of God. Even potluck takes a distant second. Lol. This past Sunday God blessed our family as Terri, Valerie, and Dave were baptized into Christ. Let’s do all we can to encourage these new babes to assist them in their spiritual growth by inviting them to your home, taking them to dinner, cards, calls, etc., Let’s make them fill a part of the family.
My prayer is that this will encourage us all to talk to friends and neighbors about the saving power of the cross and the free gift of salvation. Next Sunday is “Easter” which is a time in which mankind pauses to look towards the cross. Many who have struggled with the thought of surrendering their lives to Jesus find themselves open to attending on this special day. So, let’s all make an extra effort to bring someone with us next week. Let’s fill the building as we visit the cross again to be touched by the grace and love of our God. Let’s do all we can personally to make it a great day in the kingdom of God. Speaking of our new converts, here is their contact information. Contact them with love from the family. There is power in prayer, and an even greater power when we as a family of believers give ourselves to praying for the same concerns. The purpose of this 40 days of prayer are many. For some it is to look beyond ourselves in the focus of prayers. For others it is to develop a prayer life that may be absent or weak. For others it may be to intensify an already healthy prayer life. As I mentioned Sunday, prayer is not an option for the follower of Christ it is mandatory, and to not engage in prayer is disobedience to the commands of Jesus. The question that plagues my mind is why wouldn’t one who is dedicated to following Christ involve themselves in active prayer? In fact, how can you be a follower of Christ without a life of prayer? Prayer is the power. Prayer is the difference maker. Prayer is the door through which the power of God enters our lives. To put things into perspective, do we realize what a privilege it is to talk to a holy and righteous God? The creator and controller of the universe offers us the honor of talking to him; who are we to say no thank you, I can do it by myself. Prayer doesn’t make you weak. Just the opposite. It is the substance that makes you strong. Remember without God we are nothing. Remember that as you approach him in prayer. So, if you are not praying, start today and join us as we seek God in prayer for the next 33 days. May God strengthen you and may he guide you in all your ways. Blessings
